Ils sont placés dans le pare-choc, chose à l'époque plutôt inédite. Suite à d'assez vives critiques quant à son style jugé peu flatteur, Citroën fit appel au carrossier Heuliez pour un 'replatrage' du modèle, à moindre coût, en 1981. Les Visa phase 1 ont toutefois droit à un retour en grâce depuis quelques années, et permettent de profiter d'une voiture de collection, fiable, peu chère en entretien, et à moindre coût. Son style de 'vilain petit canard' lui permet également de la reconnaître entre toutes ;).
